🏪 Walmart just crossed 200,000 sellers. that changes where your next dollar should go.

Walmart Marketplace crossed 200,000 active sellers for the first time this year, with marketplace sales up 17% in fiscal Q2 2026, alongside a Marketplace Seller Summit in late August that announced expanded next-day delivery, targeted fee cuts, and a new AI seller assistant. That's not incremental growth.

It's a marketplace actively investing to pull sellers and attention its way at the exact moment other channels are also competing hard for the same limited amount of a brand's time and budget.

The relevant question isn't whether Walmart Marketplace is growing, which it clearly is. It's whether a brand's current channel allocation reflects that growth or still reflects assumptions formed before Walmart made this kind of investment.

A media plan built a year ago, before the fee cuts and the delivery expansion existed, is a plan calibrated against a version of Walmart Marketplace that no longer exists.

Check whether your current channel mix reflects Walmart's actual current investment level

Most channel allocation decisions get set once and revisited occasionally, rather than continuously, which means a platform investing aggressively in seller support can outpace a brand's allocation to it without anyone deciding that was the right call.

Compare your current Walmart Marketplace investment, in both budget and operational attention, against what the platform's recent fee cuts and delivery improvements would justify if you were setting the allocation fresh today rather than defending a number set a year ago.

Setting up or expanding your TikTok Shop presence through TikTok for Business is worth doing alongside this same review.

Weigh TikTok Shop and Walmart Marketplace as genuinely different opportunities, not competing claims on the same budget

Treating every channel decision as a zero-sum tradeoff between platforms misses that TikTok Shop and Walmart Marketplace are actually winning different things, discovery-driven impulse and consideration purchases on one, established marketplace trust and fast fulfillment on the other, which means the right answer is rarely picking one over the other completely.

Map which of your product categories genuinely fit each platform's actual strength, rather than defaulting to a blanket allocation split that ignores how differently these two channels actually convert different kinds of products.

Revisit this allocation on a cadence that matches how fast these platforms are actually moving

A channel mix set once a year is set for competitors who are shipping platform changes and fee restructures multiple times within that same year, which means the plan is stale for most of the period it's supposed to be governing.

Every marketplace investing in itself this aggressively is making a bet about where seller attention is heading next. The brands paying attention to that bet get to make their allocation decision on purpose instead of by default.

⚡Exact match isn’t the only path to amazon ranking

This framework challenges the assumption that exact match is automatically best for ranking. Competitive exact-match auctions can become expensive, while broad match may uncover cheaper related searches that still generate conversions around the target keyword.

Why it works: Broad match expands the available search-term pool instead of concentrating spend on one crowded auction. If those searches convert efficiently, they can generate additional sales while revealing new queries worth targeting more deliberately.

Where it needs balance: Amazon ranking isn't determined by conversion rate alone, and broad match doesn't inherently provide better placements or cheaper traffic. Relevance, sales velocity, competition, bid, placement, and organic performance all matter. Match types should be judged by the search terms and profitable sales they actually produce.

🎥 Reel of the Day

What Works:

1. Retailer-Led Hook - Opening directly outside H&M creates immediate brand recognition and retail credibility. Before viewers hear the announcement, the recognizable storefront communicates that something significant is happening with distribution.

2. Scale Makes News - Saying DAAR is entering 100+ H&M Beauty stores turns availability into a milestone. The specific number provides social proof and scale, making the announcement feel more substantial.

3. Exclusivity Adds Value - Calling the products exclusive to H&M Beauty gives shoppers a stronger reason to remember where to find them. Exclusivity transforms distribution information into a clear purchase destination.

When announcing retail expansion, combine a recognizable retailer backdrop, concrete store-count proof, exclusivity, and an in-store experience. That makes distribution news feel like an event rather than corporate news.
