šThe Format Change One of the Internetās Biggest Publishers Made Specifically to Win AI Citation
Substack, one of the platforms surfaced most consistently by leading AI models according to its own team, credits a specific structural choice for that visibility: lead with the single most important point, follow with context, then stack supporting information in order of importance, often using bullets. They call the approach Smart Brevity.
The interesting part isnāt that the writing is shorter. Itās that the page becomes much easier for an AI system to extract from because the answer appears before the explanation, not after it.
Run this audit on your highest-value pages first
Donāt start by rewriting content. Start by checking whether the most important information is actually where an AI system expects to find it.
AI Citation Readiness Audit

If the strongest claim doesnāt appear until paragraph four, youāve already identified a page worth restructuring before writing anything new.
Change the structure before changing the content
The goal isnāt a full rewrite. Use the same information, but rearrange it into a consistent structure:
- Lead with the core claim.
- Follow with one sentence explaining why it matters.
- Present supporting evidence in short bullets or structured comparisons rather than dense paragraphs.
One B2B software company applied exactly this approach across its 15 highest-intent comparison pages, moving its primary differentiator into the opening sentence and converting feature comparisons into structured bullet sections. Within six weeks, 8 of those 15 pages were being cited by AI systems after previously receiving no citations at all.
The content changed very little, but the structure changed completely.
Keep a scorecard instead of assuming the fix worked
Not every page will respond to restructuring alone.
Track which pages gain citations after the change and which remain invisible. That distinction matters because it separates pages where formatting was the real blocker from pages that still need stronger authority, broader third-party coverage, or deeper topical support.
Without that tracking, itās easy to keep rewriting pages whose structure was never the limiting factor in the first place.
Rebuilding an entire content library around this approach, most important point first, context second, supporting detail stacked by importance, is a significant editorial shift that many teams havenāt made yet.
AirOpsā GEO Strategy Playbook goes beyond page structure, showing how to identify the purchase-intent prompts where competitors are replacing you, which external sources are shaping AI recommendations, and how to build the kind of proprietary evidence models consistently cite. You can get the GEO Playbook here.
One of the internetās largest publishers didnāt become highly cited by simply publishing more.
It changed how information was arranged, then measured which pages actually benefited from that change.

ā”Cancellation saves aren't the same as retention

This framework argues that a high cancellation save rate can hide delayed churn. Customers who abandon a frustrating cancellation flow or temporarily skip may still leave shortly afterward, making the headline metric look healthier than actual retention.
Why it works: Making cancellation simple preserves trust at a vulnerable moment in the relationship. Measuring whether "saved" subscribers remain active months later gives brands a more meaningful view of retention than immediate save rate alone.
Where it needs balance: Save offers aren't inherently bad. Pauses, swaps, or discounts can genuinely retain customers when they solve the actual cancellation reason. The problem starts when the flow creates friction primarily to inflate saves rather than improve the customer experience.
š„ Reel of the Day

What Works:
The hook turns comparison into participation - āWhich PDRN serum would you choose?ā makes viewers mentally pick a side instead of passively watching another skincare demonstration.
Split-screen removes comparison friction - Showing both textures simultaneously lets viewers instantly understand thick versus lightweight, making an otherwise technical product distinction visually obvious.
The reel sells by helping viewers self-segment - Instead of declaring one serum better, Medicube gives each product a distinct job, allowing different skin goals to naturally determine the purchase.
When products look similar, don't explain the difference, stage the difference. Put them side by side and contrast texture, use case and outcome visually so customers can choose within seconds.
